2022.01.24 22:15 goblin-wrangler I love my body! I just don't know how to dress 🙃

Hello all! I'm looking for a little advice from anyone who may have a similar body type to mine. I'm around 5'1" 130lbs and built like a mini fridge. Let me explain. I have a very strong and rectangular body, and have proportions of a woman who would typically be considered mid-sized. However due to my stature, obviously those sizes don't typically fit me. I wear around a US women's size 4, but I find that any clothes I buy don't "fit" all around like they should. I have a newfound love for my figure thay I'd love to show off, but I'm not sure how to wear anything other than a basic jeans and tee/tank/sweater combo. I just figure that reddit may be a place to look to see if anyone else deals with the same issues as I do. Any advice? TIA

2022.01.24 22:15 WillManhunter 1970's "Lokis" is the most unique member of the small "killer bear" sub-genre of horror.

It is also the only full-length film in a very tiny horror niche dealing with the Eastern variant of the werewolf - the "werebear".
The plot follows the story quite faithfully: it is 1869, and Reverend Wittenbach, clergyman and bibliophile, travels into the eastern regions of Polish-Lithuanian forests to explore the vast library owned by a rich family of noblemen. Hosted in their luxurious mansion, the reverend learns the strange secrets of the surroundings and discovers the dark and disturbing secret of the family - there are whispers that his host, the enigmatic young Count Szemiot, may be something other than a man - that he was born of an unholy union of a woman and a bear.
Its almost constant dream-like atmosphere, along with the deliberate choice of the color palette that makes almost every frame in an exterior setting resemble an expressionist painting, make it more of a Gothic fantasy than Gothic horror.
It is based on Prosper Mérimée classic story and is, arguably, the best film adaptation of any of his horror writings. However, where Mérimée is not hesitant to make it clear that there is indeed a supernatural element at work, and that in his world, the monster in the darkness outside the window is real, the film deliberately avoids any certainties in that regard.
Its most interesting aspect, and the one that makes it so unique in its small genre, is the ambiguity - nothing seemingly supernatural is definitely shown as such. Perhaps there is a witch walking on water... or perhaps it's just an old woman who happens to know a secret path through a forest swamp. Perhaps (spoiler) there is a blood-thirsty werebeast lurking around... or perhaps there is just a deeply damaged man, driven into insanity and murderous lust by his deepening psychosis. Almost all is left for the viewer to decide.
Since "Lokis" is largely a period, costume piece, it could be compared to some of the more subdued Hammer productions from the 60s, but it goes even further in playing up the uncertainty and subtlety factors, so much so that calling it "old-school" is not nearly enough. Most old-school horror come across as positively on-the-nose compared to its take. "Ancient-school" would probably be a more appropriate description - so much so that those used to modern films would, no doubt, be immediately annoyed by its very slow pace, its relatively tiny amount of direct horror, and, of course, its utter lack of showing, explaining and pointing out every element of the plot.
Interestingly, however, in spite of avoiding the direct take on horror, it also (something of a spoiler) goes beyond the ending of Mérimée's story and actually suggests (definitely a spoiler!) a rather sad outcome for the unfortunate Count.

2022.01.24 22:15 Emmaf73618 Advice needed!

I’m debating canceling my January LSAT and thought some feedback on here might be helpful. I had severe technical issues during last week’s test which led to the exam being paused. For 30-45 mins I was talking to the IT department and my proctor before solving the issue and being able to resume my test. It was right in the middle of a RC section which added to the difficulty, and I felt like the interruption as a whole just threw me off and ruined my concentration. The first/last time I took the test I didn’t feel great about it right after but my score ultimately was a 161. I felt as though I could do even better and spent so much time studying in preparation for the January test. I don’t want a really low score to make my applications look off, but I just don’t know what is best. Any advice appreciated, thanks :)

2022.01.24 22:15 TheManIsNonStop [UN] United Nations 1969 Voting Results + 1970 Submissions

UN Spreadsheet, General Assembly Voting Record (1967 and Later), and Guide Introduction: The following post will remain open until 23:59 UTC on Friday, January 28th. After that, we will move to voting, which will remain open until 23:59 UTC on Sunday, January 30th.
To understand the full scope of the UN system, I highly recommend that you read the UN guide here.
General Assembly: 1969 Results

✝: Passed the UNGA vote, but not the UNSC vote.
[X] indicates an issue that has been deemed an important question under the United Nations Charter. This resolution requires a 2/3rds majority to pass.
[A] indicates that the resolution proposes changes to the United Nations Charter. In order for the Charter to be amended, the resolution must pass a 2/3rds vote in the General Assembly and be ratified by the governments of 2/3rds of the United Nations' member states, including the governments of all five Permanent Members of the Security Council.
General Notes
In 1965, Iran’s motion to expand and reform the United Nations Security Council passed the United Nations General Assembly. However, the necessary amendments to the United Nations Charter cannot be made until all five permanent members of the Security Council (US, UK, USSR, France, P.R. of China) ratify the treaty through their domestic processes. So far, the US, the USSR, France, and P.R. of China have ratified the treaty, while the UK has not.
In 1966, the United Nations General Assembly suspended the delegations of the Portuguese Republic and the Union of South Africa. Until they are readmitted to this body (by another UNGA resolution), South Africa and Portugal may not submit or vote on any resolutions.
To participate in the UN General Assembly, you must first be a member of the UN. Please refer to the UN spreadsheet to see whether you are currently a member. If you are not yet a member, please refer to the bottom of this post to submit a membership application.
Please use the designated comments section to submit motions for the consideration of the General Assembly at the end of the year. Please refer to the UN guide for the powers of the General Assembly.
Security Council (incl. nominations): 1969 Results
General Notes
To participate in the UN Security Council (UNSC), you must be a Council member. A list of current and prior UNSC members may be found on the UN spreadsheet. Following the elections of 1969, the Republic of Peru, the Libyan Arab Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany join the following nations on the Security Council: US, USSR, UK, France, China (P.R. of), Haiti, Mongolia, and Ghana.
1970 is the final year of the terms of Haiti, Mongolia, and Ghana. Three Council seats are open in the regional groupings of Easterm Europe and Asia, British Commonwealth, and Latin America. Please refer to the UN spreadsheet to see which regional grouping your country belongs to. It is recommended that you also read the guide to understand the powers of the UNSC. Unfilled seats will be filled by NPCs.
Please use the designated comments section to submit motions for the consideration of the UNSC at the end of the year. Note: Technically speaking, any country may submit a resolution to the UNSC, but a UNSC member must sponsor the resolution by commenting ‘Sponsored’ underneath the submission. The motion then becomes the responsibility of the sponsor state.
Trusteeship Council The UN Trusteeship Council (UNTC) regulates the UN’s three1 trust territories. Please read the UN/IO guide for more details.
Only UNTC members may participate in the Council. Non-permanent UNTC members are elected for three-year terms, and unlike the UNSC, may serve consecutive terms. A list of current and prior UNTC members may be found on the UN spreadsheet. Presently, the UNTC consists of the five permanent members of the Security Council (United States, USSR, United Kingdom, France, the Republic of China), states who are currently serving as trustees (Australia, New Zealand, Italy, South Africa), and temporary non-trustee members of the Council (Chile, Togo, Maldives). The number of non-trustee members will always be equal to the number of trustee members.
If you are a current UNTC member, please use the designated comments section to submit motions for the consideration of the Council at the end of the year.
Election of New Members
With the end of this three year term, new non-trustee members must be elected to the Trusteeship Council. The number of non-trustee members must be equal to the number of trustee members (currently three). Nations may nominate themselves, and may serve consecutive terms. If you would like to apply to serve on the UNTC, please apply in the relevant section below.
Current UN Trusteeship Council Members 1968-1970: People's Republic of China (P5), USSR (P5), France (P5), United States (P5/Trustee), United Kingdom (P5), Australia (Trustee), Chile (Non-Trustee), Togo (Non-Trustee) and the Maldives (Non-Trustee).
Current UN Trust Territories: Pacific Islands (US), New Guinea (Australia), and Namibia (United Nations)1.
Former UN Trust Territories: French Togoland (1955, Federation of West Africa), French Cameroons (1955, Federation of Equatorial Africa), British Togoland (1955, Dominion of Ghana), Italian Somaliland (1960, Somali Republic), Tanganyika (1962, Republic of Tanganyika), Samoa (Independent State of Western Samoa, 1962), Ruanda-Urundi (Republic of Rwanda and Kingdom of Burundi, 1962), British Cameroons (Federation of Nigeria and Republic of Cameroon, 1964), Nauru (Republic of Nauru, 1966)
1: The mandate for South West Africa was previously held by South Africa, but was revoked by A/RES/23/238 in 1968. In the eyes of the United Nations, South West Africa (now recognized by the United Nations as Namibia) is being illegally occupied by South Africa.
International Court of Justice: The International Court of Justice is hearing one case in 1970, in which the United Kingdom and the People’s Republic of China are contesting the veto on the membership of the Republic of Pakistan by the French Socialist Union and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The proceedings of this case may be viewed here.
Although the International Court of Justice (ICJ) accepts cases at any time of the year, you may also use this post as a submissions docket. Please refer to the UN/IO guide for a better understanding of how the ICJ works in CWP.
International Criminal Court: The International Criminal Court did not hear any cases in 1969.
Although the International Criminal Court accepts cases at any time of the year, you may also use this post as a submissions docket. The ICC in this timeline is very different from the ICC of real life, so please refer to the UN/IO guide for a better understanding of how the ICC works in CWP.
Membership applications: New Members
The United Nations welcomes the following member states: Republic of Cyprus; Sultanate of Oman. The United Nations now has 119 member states. The United Nations also welcomes the Kingdom of Bhutan as a permanent observer.
General Notes
Please use this post to lodge an official application for membership in the UN. Both the UNGA and UNSC must approve an application in accordance with their various rules in order for the nation to join the UN.
Please note that as the UN/IO mod I am always very happy to answer your questions in the comments or over Discord. Many thanks to hughmcf for the template of this post.
